Moving in the Hills: what to plan for
- Long and steep driveways. Gravel, tight bends and steep grades decide whether the truck can reach the house. A photo from the road answers most questions.
- Low branches and narrow lanes. Removal trucks are tall. Overhanging trees on driveways and lanes can stop us short, so trimming them before the day saves time.
- Weather. Fog, rain and wet leaves slow everything down in winter. In summer, check the fire danger rating for your area in the days before the move.
- Big blocks, big sheds. Acreage homes often have sheds, workshops and outdoor gear. Tell us what's outside as well as inside.
Getting there
We come up the South Eastern Freeway through the Heysen Tunnels. Crafers and Stirling are about 30 minutes from Glenelg North; Woodside and Lobethal take longer.
How travel is priced
The clock starts when we arrive at your pickup address and stops when the last item is in place at your new home. Call-out: 0.5 hours. A move between the Hills and the coast usually falls in the 25 to 50 km band in the estimator.
Typical moves in the Hills
- Families moving from the suburbs to a home with more land.
- Downsizers moving down the hill, closer to shops and services.
