Questions

Questions people ask before they book

How much does a removalist cost in Adelaide?

Most charge by the hour. Two movers and a truck usually cost $130 to $160 an hour, and three movers about $200 (What's The Damage price guide, October 2026). A 2-bedroom move typically lands between $460 and $1,100. Our own rates and typical totals are on the prices page.

When does the clock start and stop?

The clock starts when we arrive at your pickup address and stops when the last item is in place at your new home. Call-out: 0.5 hours. Always ask any removalist this before you book: some charge from when the truck leaves their depot until it gets back.

Are there any hidden costs?

There shouldn't be any surprises. What's included and what can cost extra are both listed on the prices page, and John confirms anything unusual, like a piano, before the day.

What are the red flags when choosing a removalist?

No ABN, a price only after a paid inspection or a big deposit, vague answers about when the clock starts, cash only, no insurance details, reviews only on their own website and pressure to book on the spot. A good removalist answers all of these happily.

Do I have to pay for an inspection?

No. The estimator gives you a price range in 60 seconds, and John confirms it by phone or from photos. For 4+ bedroom homes and offices, John can visit for free.

How far ahead should I book?

Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable for a local move, and four to six for interstate. End-of-month dates and Fridays fill first. For a last-minute move, call John: if a crew is free, he'll tell you straight away.

What won't removalists move?

Dangerous goods: gas bottles, petrol, paint and paint thinners, pool chemicals, ammunition and anything flammable. Also perishable food, pets and plants for interstate moves. Keep cash, jewellery, important documents and medication with you.

Do I need to empty drawers?

Take out anything heavy, fragile or loose. Light clothing can usually stay in a solid chest of drawers.

What happens if something is damaged?

Tell John straight away, with photos. Public liability: $[amount], with [insurer]. Goods in transit: up to $[amount] per move.

Do I need to be home on moving day?

Someone should be there at the start to show the crew what goes, and at the end to say where things go. In between, you can head to the new place to meet us there.

Do you move on weekends?

Ask John about weekend dates; they book out first. Weekend surcharge: 0%.

Do you do interstate moves?

Yes, priced on the volume you move. See interstate removals.

How do I pay?

Bank transfer or card.
