Dedicated truck or shared load
There are two ways to move interstate, and John will tell you which he can offer for your route and dates:
- Dedicated truck. Only your things on board, on dates you choose. The fastest and most predictable option, and the most expensive.
- Shared load (backloading). Your things travel in part of a truck that is already going that way. It costs less, in exchange for some flexibility on the pickup and delivery dates.
How interstate moves are priced
Priced per cubic metre, or a fixed price after we confirm your inventory. These volumes are a rough guide to what a home takes up on a truck:
| Home | Approximate volume |
|---|---|
| 1-bedroom unit | 10 to 15 m³ |
| 2-bedroom home | 20 to 25 m³ |
| 3-bedroom home | 30 to 40 m³ |
| 4-bedroom home | 45 to 60 m³ |
Before you go
- Check what can cross the border. Plants, soil and some foods can't go into some states. Western Australia and Tasmania have the strictest quarantine rules.
- Dangerous goods stay behind: gas bottles, fuel, paint thinners and pool chemicals.
- Valuables travel with you: documents, jewellery, medication and anything irreplaceable.
- Photograph your furniture before the move, and keep a simple list of the boxes.
